Ode to Shelby

Shelby Ann Stevenson

Oh how we love her!

This little girl lights up the room! She makes us smile and laugh and simply enjoy life more!

She loves her brothers and sisters! When babysitters are at our home she is typically glued to Emily, who will hold her and sing to her and make her feel safe when mom and dad are gone. Shelby will copy almost everything Devin does including sword fight noises. He's gotten her to twirl and say "ninjaaaaaagooooo" which was so cute! Carlie is like a little mother to Shelby and plays with her very well. She and Carlie can be seen pushing the same stroller around together. Playing play-doh together or having fun splashing in the bath. When Shelby hears Carlie crying she says "oh no Carlie!" and then hurries off to give her a hug to help her feel better. Now Shelby with Joseph is absolutely precious! Ever since Joseph was born they have this special connection. It's hard to capture it just right, you have to witness it to fully understand. She is concerned always for his well being. She'll make the noises he makes, smile at him, kiss him on the head or cheek, give him hugs, get a towel and wipe up his spit up, read him books, sing to him and much more. One thing she positively loves is when Joseph rolls over. She loves it! When she smiles and talks to him, Joseph smiles and his eyes sparkle when he looks at her. You can tell that these two had to have been best of friends in the premortal life and Shelby has been missing him ever since she left to come to earth. It is pure sweet happiness!

Shelby loves wearing Carlie's clothes and Devin's slippers. We thought she looked so funny we wanted to take her picture. When we found her she was in her room sitting in a baby doll carseat! Lol! It was hilarious! She didn't want to get out and stand up for us but I'm pretty sure we asked her to do it so we could take a picture for Joseph and that got her to stand up. Anything for Joseph!

Emily got her to make this face...It's called chubby cheeks and you have to say chubby cheeks while you're doing the face!

This beautiful girl entered our family on October 2nd 2014 and has blessed our lives in so many quiet special ways!
We love you sweet Shelby!
